Which video does your product need: demo, product film, explainer or ad?

You do not need to choose a video category before getting in touch. What matters first is what someone should understand or do after watching. That tells us whether a demo, product film, explainer or ad is useful.

01

Start with the viewer's decision.

Is someone meeting the product for the first time? They may need orientation. Someone already considering it may only need to see one feature, use case or detail before making a decision. A single film trying to answer every question tends to become long and unfocused.

Write one sentence: after watching, this person should understand that … or take the next step of …. It is a more useful brief than asking for a 'modern 30-second video'.

02

Four formats with four different jobs.

A demo follows a task: starting point, action and visible result. A product film gives form, use and detail a coherent sequence. An explainer makes a relationship clear when still images or a short demo cannot. An ad earns attention for a specific next step in very little time.

These are not rigid boxes. A demo can supply an ad, and a product film can explain. The question is which job the main film should do first. Useful cutdowns can follow from that decision.

03

Placement changes the story.

On a product page, visitors already have context. The film can answer an open question immediately. In a social feed, that context has to be established. In sales, a film may open a conversation without trying to settle every objection on its own.

That is why one export rarely fits every placement. Framing, text size, duration and opening belong to the place where the film will run. The central idea can remain the same while the versions begin differently.

04

Check the choice against visible work.

PASS follows an app task from finding an event to entering it. PULSE gives a concept physical product room for its form and details. TRAVEL eSIM compresses a travel problem into a short vertical ad. These independent studio films show different communication jobs, not measured client outcomes.

If you are choosing between formats, send me the product, audience and planned placement. I can first outline the one message the film should carry. Runtime, style and price make more sense after that.
