Three media with different jobs
A 360° product video shows a planned rotation as a film. Its camera, lighting and sequence are predetermined. An interactive 3D view lets visitors explore the model themselves. A detail film selects specific angles and movements to explain a feature or construction. These are different deliveries with different production needs.
A sequence of photographs can also create a controllable spin view. That is technically different from a freely rotatable 3D model. You do not need perfect terminology to start a conversation. Explain whether buyers should choose their own view or watch a sequence that demonstrates a particular point.
Identify what buyers need to see
A rotation can establish shape and external connections. Showing how a closure works or revealing a hidden detail often needs an extra movement or close-up. The test is whether the view answers a useful question. A complete turn does not automatically explain what makes the product different or suitable.
The original comparison shows three purposes: seeing the exterior, choosing a view and understanding a mechanism. These static illustrations are a schematic, not an embedded 3D viewer. For your product, we select the treatment around the details buyers still struggle to understand before choosing a version.
The purpose changes the view.
A rotation film
Watch a predetermined sequence
A controlled view
Choose your own perspective
Explain a detail
Show the important mechanism

Videos and interactive models require different integration. Shopify lists them as separate product media types. A rotatable model is not an MP4, and a film does not become interactive because it was rendered in 3D. The official Shopify documentation is linked below; your web team checks requirements for other systems.
Establish what the theme or gallery supports and who will implement it. If you need a film, I can deliver that agreed file. Developing an interactive viewer is a separate technical project, not an automatic part of product animation. The production quote should define that boundary before work begins.
Different deliveries need different model preparation
A rendered film has its images generated in advance. An interactive model is displayed on the visitor's device. Geometry, materials and file-size requirements therefore differ. A detailed production model may need additional work before it is suitable for real-time viewing in a web page.
For a rotation, the surface and proportions matter. A functional film may also require moving components and internal construction. Existing CAD or 3D files are checked against those needs. The workload follows the planned views and deliverables, rather than simply whether some form of model already exists.
Plan variants and mobile views early
Colours, materials and model versions need naming in the scope. A different colour can be a modest change; a new housing may require different geometry and scenes. Labels and packaging need current approved artwork. This prevents creating a polished view of an outdated variant for the product page.
The important detail must remain visible on a phone. A film should not shrink the product inside excessive empty space. Interactive views need loading and usability checks. Additional detail images may help when a key fact would otherwise only become visible after prolonged rotation or playback.
Choose a useful first production scope
Explain which buying question the medium should answer. Share product images, available models and the planned page. I assess whether a rotation, detail film or functional sequence best supports that task. Responsibility for shop implementation is agreed with the team handling the website rather than assumed within the film production.
One product with a few important views can be enough to begin. You can then review how the treatment is used and which questions remain. A complete catalogue does not have to be the first commission. The quote specifies the views, formats and price before production starts.

Common questions
Is a 360° video automatically interactive?
No. A video follows a fixed sequence. A controllable view needs separate technical presentation, such as an image-sequence viewer or a 3D viewer.
Can one model be used for film and web?
Sometimes. Web delivery may need optimisation and different materials. The required files and their preparation are assessed separately.
Does FORMFOLGE also implement the 3D viewer?
The production scope delivers the agreed visual media. Viewer development and shop integration are not automatically included and need separate agreement.
See the exterior, choose a perspective or understand a closure. The three schematic views establish different tasks for the presentation.
An original schematic studio concept. These are static illustrations, not a working interactive 3D viewer.
