How 4 days become 22 minutes.

VORN is a fictional quoting software for machine builders. The film shows in 39 seconds what it changes day to day. Here you can see how it was made.

Concept film, not a client commission. Companies, times and prices are invented.

Friday, 16:12. An enquiry worth €350,000.

Hoffmann Foods asks for a palletising cell for two lines, cartons up to 38 kg, quote by Monday. Without a system, that means: bill of materials, prices, questions, approval. The quote goes out on Thursday. Too late.

The question for the film: how do you show in seconds what VORN changes, without explaining every feature? The answer is a timeline.

00:00A dark room, Friday 16:12. The enquiry from Hoffmann Foods lights up.“Friday, just after four. Quote by Monday?”
00:03A grey bar drags itself through the week: materials, prices, questions, approval.“Bill of materials. Prices. Questions. Approval.”
00:06Spreadsheet errors, mail loops, missing approvals. The result stands in the dark: Thursday.“Out on Thursday. Too late.”
00:08The bar snaps into a short orange line. The lights come on.“With VORN: twenty-two minutes.”
00:1201 Configure: the robot cell builds itself from approved modules.“The cell is built from approved modules, with prices straight from the ERP.”
00:1902 Checked: a 38 kg carton means gripper GV-40 instead of GV-20.“Engineering rules are always included.”
00:2203 Calculated: 214 line items, €342,600, 31% margin.“Two hundred and fourteen items. The margin fits.”
00:2604 Quote: the PDF with a 3D layout assembles itself. Sent at 16:34.“The quote. With layout, performance and delivery time.”
00:30Comparison: VORN is out, the others are still calculating. Opened at 16:41.“Four thirty-four. Sent. Whoever quotes first is ahead.”
00:35The lines become the VORN mark. Signed FORMFOLGE.“VORN. Quotes in minutes.”

Every frame has a job.

Before anything moves, 3–6 key frames set colour, composition and look. VORN had six.

  1. The enquiry: A concrete case instead of a claim: company, machine, amount.

Three decisions behind the film.

  1. 01

    Time instead of features

The film doesn't tell a feature list, it tells a Friday afternoon. The clock is the thread: one minute per beat.

  2. 02

Real rules instead of fantasy UI

A 38 kg carton, gripper GV-40, a 31% margin: details a machine builder recognises at once. That's why I first researched how quotes are calculated.

  3. 03

Before and after in one image

A grey bar against an orange line: the benefit is visible without explanation, even with the sound off.
