What is an exploded view animation?
The product does not break apart. Its components move in a controlled sequence and remain spatially related. Viewers can see which part belongs where before the product comes together again.
This is useful for housings, assemblies and hidden components. An exploded view explains structure first. Showing a function needs another clear moment: a part moving, for example, or a path through the assembly.
Move from the whole product to a useful detail
Start with the assembled product. Separate only the parts needed for the message. Give the important component space, a clear position and a short label if needed. A final product shot connects the detail back to the offer.
My independent PULSE speaker concept demonstrates one visual approach to separated components. For a real product, we check the actual construction together. An attractive treatment must not imply an unverified material property or technical advantage.
One product. Three clear parts.
The product
Establish the complete shape
The structure
Keep the components spatially related
The detail
Give a relevant part room
Exploded view, cutaway or assembly guide?
A cutaway may be more useful when viewers need to follow an internal path while the assembly stays connected. An exploded view shows how separate parts relate. An assembly guide shows how someone builds or installs the product.
These are different jobs. The movement in an explanatory exploded view may not be a real assembly path. If the film is an instruction, its sequence, actions and finished state need technical approval. We establish the purpose before choosing the visual treatment.
Which product data helps
A 3D model with separate components is a useful starting point. CAD files often need preparation: reducing unnecessary detail, separating parts and assigning materials. An existing model does not remove every modelling task.
Without CAD, photographs, dimensions and drawings may be enough. Hidden components need reliable information. I check whether an accurate model is possible or a clearly simplified diagram is a better option. We also agree which confidential parts should stay out of public views.
- Existing 3D model or CAD files
- Relevant structure and function
- Dimensions, materials and finishes
- Approved details and private areas
- Placement, budget and deadline
What affects the price
My 3D product animation starts at 1,290 €, including a product model and animated scenes. An exploded sequence is scoped around the model, relevant components and shots. A simple assembly with usable files needs different work from a complex product without a model.
The quote lists model preparation, materials, animation, sound and delivery formats. We can plan extra views or language versions together. A rendered film and an interactive 3D viewer are different deliverables; a video quote does not automatically include a web application.
Keep the relationship easy to follow
Too many parts make a view hard to read. I group secondary components and direct attention to the relevant relationship. Spacing, camera position and movement order preserve that relationship. Labels explain what the image cannot establish by itself.
You review the component arrangement before final rendering. Lighting, materials and timing follow the approved structure. To enquire, send the product, message and available files. You do not need an exploded drawing or a finished storyboard.
Common questions
Can you make an exploded animation without CAD?
Yes, if the dimensions, images and component information are sufficient. A photograph of the outside cannot establish a hidden construction. I check which parts can be accurate and which need a schematic treatment.
Is an exploded animation an assembly instruction?
Not automatically. It explains structure. An instruction needs the real sequence, movement paths and relevant safety information checked separately.
Can I use the film online and at a trade show?
Yes, when the formats and readability are planned for both. A silent loop may suit a stand. Required versions are listed in the quote.
The original diagram separates a housing, an internal ring and a lid. Their order remains clear, and the final view directs attention to one detail.
An original schematic studio concept. It is not a real construction, assembly instruction or verified technical function.
